Open Positions

Supervisor – Criminal Division/Adult Felony Unit

The Supervisor of the Criminal Division leads a team of prosecutors and support staff handling felony cases. The team includes Major Trial Attorneys, Senior and Junior Courtroom Prosecutors, a victim advocate, investigator, and courtroom secretary. The Supervisor assigns and monitors cases, providing guidance on legal strategy, discovery, motions, plea negotiations, and trial preparation, and ensures compliance with office policies. The Supervisor mentors and evaluates staff, conducts regular case reviews, and remains accessible for legal and procedural support, while also serving as lead or assisting counsel on complex cases such as homicides and sexual assaults. The role acts as a liaison to law enforcement by advising on investigations and charging decisions and presenting cases to the grand jury, represents the office in trainings, meetings, and community engagements. Administrative duties include overseeing schedules, supervising administrative staff and victim advocates, ensuring proper use of case management systems, and communicating with executive leadership and the judiciary on case management and performance. Candidates must have extensive felony prosecution and trial experience, strong leadership and communication skills, deep knowledge of criminal law and procedure, and a demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and victim advocacy. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Criminal Division/Adult Felony Unit

Two positions are available in the Criminal Division/Adult Felony Unit. Both involve preparing and presenting adult criminal felony cases to be tried in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. To do so, assistant prosecutors research and prepare briefs and opinions; negotiate resolutions to cases; prepare a variety of legal documents; may supervise law clerks/interns, and maintain a working knowledge of the law. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Ohio and be eligible for admission to practice law before the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. The Office will consider external candidates and any internal candidates, including current members of other adult felony teams, with the necessary qualifications and interest.
