What is Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions is a two-day amnesty event for anyone with a child support case. We are offering numerous resources to help people start making regular child support payments. I know it can be challenging to make consistent payments in some circumstances. Child Support Solutions will help people address their specific case needs.

When is Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions is Friday, August 14 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. It is at The Job Center, located at 1040 East Tallmadge Avenue in Akron. The Job Center is located on the Metro bus line, which can provide transportation to and from the event. Remember to bring a photo ID, current court orders, your most recent pay stub and proof of unemployment.

What services will be offered to those attending Child Support Solutions?

I know that it is not always easy to make your child support payments. At Child Support Solutions, we will work with parents to get past everything that is keeping them from making those payments. If your license is suspended for nonpayment or you have a child support-related warrant, we can help. If you’re struggling to find a job, we can help. If you need to prove paternity, we can conduct a quick, free and painless genetic paternity test. You can sit down with a case manager to discuss payment arrangements. We can even provide you with free access to relationship counseling. I urge you to take this opportunity to let us help you find a solution that makes paying child support easy for you.

Why should I attend Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions is a great opportunity for anyone who’s struggling with their child support payments or anyone with questions regarding their case. It’s one-stop shopping to address your specific case issues and learn about the resources available to help you take financial responsibility. Parents can have one-on-one time with a case manager to discuss their case and what’s holding them back. Participants will also have access to programs that can help them overcome common obstacles to payment, such as unemployment, criminal records and lack of formal education and training.

Will anyone be arrested at Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions is an amnesty event. No one will be arrested for Summit County warrants related to child support. I encourage everyone to attend this event. We are unable to address outstanding warrants for other criminal matters and warrants from outside Summit County. If you are afraid of being arrested or have questions about whether or not you have additional warrants unrelated to child support, please call David Rodgers or Larry Cook at (330) 643-2765. They will be happy to discuss this with you at any time.

How long should I plan on being at Child Support Solutions?

Parents should plan on being at the event for a minimum of one hour. If you are attending the event to get your driver’s license back, you should plan on being there at least two hours.

Can I make a child support payment at Child Support Solutions?

I strongly encourage noncustodial parents to start getting caught up with their child support payments. Cash, check or credit payments can be made at Child Support Solutions. Even if you can’t pay the full amount, pay something; it is better than no payment at all.

I have custody of my children. Will there be services for me at Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions isn’t just for parents who owe child support. Custodial parents can meet one-on-one with a case manager to review their child support case and get genetic paternity testing, employment assistance and access to relationship counseling.

Are there fees for the services provided at Child Support Solutions?

There will be many valuable services and resources available at Child Support Solutions. The best news is that all of those services are not only free at Child Support Solutions, but also outside of the event.

My driver's license is suspended. Can I get it reinstated at Child Support Solutions?

Lifting a driver’s license suspension is one of the many great services available at Child Support Solutions. However, we can only reinstate licenses that were suspended because of non-payment. If your driver’s license is suspended for another reason, you will need to address that with the court that issued the suspension.

What other agencies will be represented at Child Support Solutions?

We’ve pulled together a number of organizations to provide valuable resources and assistance at Child Support Solutions. Our partners include the Department of Job and Family Services, Domestic Relations Court, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, the Summit County Fiscal Office, the Summit County Executive’s Office, the Summit County Clerk of Courts, Fathers and Sons of Northeast Ohio, Fame Fathers and Man 2 Man.

My child support case is through a county other than Summit. Can I attend Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions provides an incredible opportunity for parents with a child support case in Summit County to access many valuable resources. However, we do not have any authority to resolve issues from other counties or states. If you have a child support case in a county outside of Summit, I encourage you to contact your Child Support Enforcement Agency.

Can I establish a child support order at Child Support Solutions?

Child Support Solutions offers a wide array of services. We can even establish a child support order at this event. However, all parties must be present. If all parties are not available during Child Support Solutions, contact CSEA at (330) 643-2765 to schedule an appointment.

I have a child support lien. Can I get rid of it at Child Support Solutions?

At Child Support Solutions, we will work with parents to address all child support-related issues, including liens. If you have questions about Child Support Solutions or your case, please call the Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency at (330) 643-2765.

I have custody and visitation issues. Can I address those at Child Support Solutions?

While I believe that children benefit most from having parents who are involved both emotionally and financially, the Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency can only address child support issues. We are unable to resolve custody and visitation issues at Child Support Solutions. Those must be handled through the Domestic Relations Court.
